Check authenticity, duration, exact scope and termination grounds. A stamped copy does not establish continuing authority or coverage of the particular transaction.
Practical example
The expiry date has not passed but the principal revoked it. Conversely, a valid document may authorise obtaining documents but not selling.
What to do
Check the original and notary details using available official verification. Establish revocation, principal status and substitution. For significant transactions, also verify directly with the principal; assess foreign formalities separately.
