Short answer

First establish which actions the representative will perform abroad and what form the receiving institution requires. Georgia’s general representation rules do not automatically replace a foreign bank’s or registry’s requirements. Specify the actions, property and appropriate limits.

Practical example

For an overseas apartment sale, a general authority to ‘represent my interests’ may be insufficient; receiving the price and completing registration may require express powers.

What to do

Obtain the receiving authority’s requirements and prepare passport and property details. Check translation and international authentication requirements beforehand.

Points to consider

Whether an apostille, legalisation or an exemption applies depends on the country, document and relevant treaty. This article does not replace country-specific requirements.
