Short answer

The premises’ existence and the owner’s consent do not establish compliance with all requirements for your business. Check title, restrictions, agreed use, technical capacity and activity-specific rules separately.

Practical example

A food business may need ventilation, adequate electrical capacity and other facilities. Paying rent in advance does not resolve these issues.

What to do

Obtain a current registry extract and authority documents. Inspect utilities; agree repairs, permits, the rent commencement date and consequences of inability to operate. Record the condition and specific use the premises must support.

Legal basis

Georgian Civil Code — Articles 532, 533, 535, 541. Checked on 28 October 2026. The outcome depends on the contract, facts and evidence.
