Short answer
Notarisation is mandatory where law or the parties require it. Notarising a transaction differs from certifying a signature. Not every contract requires notarial form.
Practical example
A mortgage securing a loan requires checking special form rules and creditor-status exceptions. An ordinary money acknowledgment has a different regime.
What to do
Provide identity, authority and asset documents. Check form, required consents and registration beforehand. Discuss enforcement separately: notarisation does not make every dispute directly enforceable.
Legal basis
Georgian Civil Code — Articles 69, 289, 892. Checked on 28 October 2026. The outcome depends on the contract, facts and evidence.
