Short answer
Interest must be calculable and within statutory limits. Nominal and annual effective rates differ; the latter includes relevant costs. Article 625 caps the annual effective rate at 50%, subject to other special conditions.
Practical example
A low monthly rate is supplemented by issue and management fees. The advertised rate alone does not show the actual cost.
What to do
Specify rate period, calculation base, dates and all charges. Check additional mortgage-loan limits and creditor status. Calculate sanctions separately; renaming them interest does not avoid restrictions.
Legal basis
Georgian Civil Code — Articles 625, 626. Checked on 28 October 2026. The outcome depends on the contract, facts and evidence.
