A registry entry is presumed correct until its inaccuracy is proved. Investigate the basis: a technical mistake, disputed transaction and use of another person’s documents require different action. A verbal ownership assertion will not change it.

Practical example

Property was transferred using an old power of attorney. Authority, the transaction and any later buyer’s position must be assessed.

What to do

Obtain the extract, registration decision and underlying documents and preserve ownership history. Promptly assess challenges and further-disposal risks; a claim against another person may require court proceedings.
