Ownership and residential address registration are different legal concepts. Address registration does not itself create an ownership share. An occupant may nevertheless have an independent tenancy, right of use or other basis requiring review.

Practical example

A relative has been registered there for years. Ownership requires a legal basis, not merely an address entry or mail received there.

What to do

Obtain the property extract and establish the basis of occupation. Do not equate deregistration of an address with a claim for vacant possession. The administrative process is governed by separate special rules.
