A wall adjoining your apartment is not automatically free to alter. Establish its structural role, common-property status and impact on other owners. Required consent and building permission are separate requirements.

Practical example

An owner makes an opening in a common structure to join rooms. A neighbour’s oral consent does not replace structural safety or required permission.

What to do

Before work, obtain a technical report and project and check the required association decision. Document ongoing dangerous work and contact the competent service; preserve records of damage-related expenses.
