Protection depends on the property type and acquisition circumstances. For immovables, registry entries and the buyer’s knowledge of inaccuracies or disputes are particularly important. Movables have different exceptions; rules cannot automatically be transferred.

Practical example

A buyer purchased from the registered owner but knew of a challenge to the entry. The extract alone does not resolve every good-faith issue.

What to do

Examine registration history, price, relationships and evidence of knowledge. The appropriate claim may also concern monetary liability of the original transferor. Merely asserting good faith does not decide the dispute.
