Short answer
The right to loan repayment may form part of the estate. Pay the person entitled to receive it, not any relative. A death certificate alone does not establish an heir’s authority.
Practical example
Two relatives demand payment to different accounts. Paying one does not automatically eliminate the other’s claim risk.
What to do
Keep the contract and schedule. Request an inheritance certificate or other authority document. Where the creditor is uncertain, assess lawful deposit arrangements; suspending or redirecting payment requires prior legal assessment.
Legal basis
Georgian Civil Code — Articles 1328, 434–441. Checked on 28 October 2026. The outcome depends on the contract, facts and evidence.
