Short answer
The Code provides for deposit where the creditor delays acceptance or their whereabouts are unknown. A lawful basis, correct amount and procedure are required. Not every bank transfer has this effect.
Practical example
Payment is due but the creditor refuses it, then alleges default. Proper deposit may address that situation.
What to do
Give the notary obligation documents, balance, creditor details and proof of refusal or unknown whereabouts. Consider withdrawal consequences: in some cases deposit is treated as never having occurred.
Legal basis
Georgian Civil Code — Articles 434–441. Checked on 28 October 2026. The outcome depends on the contract, facts and evidence.
