Short answer

On intestacy, heirs in the same class participate equally, but children may not be the only members: the spouse and parents also matter. A will and compulsory-share rights change the calculation.

Practical example

Two children do not invariably receive half each: a surviving spouse and parent may also inherit.

What to do

Give the notary details of all known heirs and the complete property position. Specify assets and compensation precisely in a division agreement.

Points to consider

A share of ownership is different from possession of a particular room. Inheriting a share does not automatically create separate room ownership.
