What's the difference
Apostille is a simplified form of confirmation of an official document for a state participating in the Hague Convention. For a country where this procedure does not apply, legalization may be required.
What exactly is confirmed
The authenticity of the signature, the authority of the signatory and, if applicable, the seal or stamp are verified. This does not mean confirmation of the legal correctness of all the contents of the document.
What to check before submitting
- the country and specific receiving authority;
- the document type and issuing authority;
- original, copy or electronic document;
- language and translation requirements;
- existence of an international agreement.
Why consistency is important
If you first translate the wrong copy or certify a copy in the wrong form, the document will have to be reissued. The route is determined before transfer and payment.
The material is for general informational purposes only. Requirements and facts are verified as of the date of application using official sources and your documents.
